According to Buycott — “On July 29, 2016, President Obama signed into law a bill that preempts Vermont’s GMO labeling law and substitutes a federal law that allows food companies to hide information about GMOs behind confusing QR barcodes.
“The Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) and its members, including Monsanto, spent nearly $400 million over the past four years to defeat mandatory GMO labeling laws.”
